RRBATA

Statement of Purpose:

1. To provide an effective conduit for local businesses in the Romsey region and a forum for discussion for the mutual benefit of all business operators in the region.

2. To provide a means of exchange of ideas between businesses.

3. To provide an environment to encourage the local community to use local businesses and to assist in the growth and development of businesses in the region.

What is RRBATA?

The Romsey Region Business and Tourism Association (RRBATA) Incorporated is a not-for-profit interest group comprising local business operators whose primary task is to promote business and tourism in the Romsey region.

This year, RRBATA has undergone a restructure to assist it to fulfill its objectives as a conduit for a broad spectrum of local businesses. Whether the businesses are traditional shop front, home based, trade, professional or industrial the RRBATA wishes to give all such businesses an opportunity to network and be involved in initiatives which ultimately benefit local business and the Romsey community. RRBATA aims to provide a forum for its members to inform and be informed, whilst also aiming to provide an environment which encourages residents and visitors to utilize local business.

All RRBATA members are encouraged to attend the monthly RRBATA meetings held, generally, on the 3rd Monday of the month). These are an opportunity for members to be updated on all matters relating to RRBATA including subcommittee reports, discussing matters of concern or interest and formulating future plans. Sometimes, a guest speaker is arranged to present a subject of interest to the meeting. It is a great way for businesses to interact with each other in a relaxed and constructive environment.

Members are kept informed per email of Committee of Management activity, relevant correspondence from Macedon Ranges Shire Council and information pertaining to other business and tourism associations (BATAs).

Structure of RRBATA and how it will work for Romsey Businesses:

Committee of Management
As an Incorporated Association, RRBATA must have a Committee of Management (COM) which is elected by all RRBATA members at the Annual General Meeting. The COM meets regularly to do the “housekeeping” of the RRBATA’s legal obligations (Incorporated Associations Act 1981).
The COM consists of the following position:
• President
• Vice President
• Secretary
• Treasurer
• General Committee (4 members)

Minutes of COM meetings are made available to all RRBATA members.
Any RRBATA member may attend a COM meeting to raise issues of interest or concern.

Sub Committees
These are formed to work on specific projects. For example, the Rodeo Subcommittee had the very specific task of organizing the Rodeo The ODP subcommittee facilitates discussion between Shire Council and the RRBATA on the ODP. Other subcommittees may be set up as a need arises. Any RRBATA member can be on a subcommittee.

RRBATA Members
All RRBATA members are encouraged to attend the monthly RRBATA meetings held, generally, on the 3rd Monday of the month. These are an opportunity for members to be updated on all matters relating to RRBATA including subcommittee reports, discussing matters of concern or interest and formulating future plans. Sometimes, a guest speaker is arranged to present a subject of interest to the meeting. It is a great way for businesses to interact with each other in a relaxed but constructive environment. All RRBATA members are entitled to vote at the Annual General Meeting or any other Special General Meeting.  All RRBATA members have a right to peruse the rules of the Association.

Interaction with other BATAs
RRBATA plans to network with other BATAs so as to get ideas and information to benefit our own organization and, therefore, its members.

This restructure is designed to increase the relevance of RRBATA to Romsey. If you are not currently involved with RRBATA, please think about coming along to a meeting (3rd Monday of the month at the Community Hub) to consider becoming a member.
